Tips to stay healthy and fit this Christmas

Move as much as possible

Christmas movies are definitely fun, but a good idea is also to avoid the sofa and the stillness as much as possible. Schedule an enjoyable outdoor activity with family or friends or go for a walk – ideally after your meal – to ease the digestion process.

Drink alcohol in moderation

Alcohol provides you with so-called "empty" calories. That is, calories that are not accompanied by useful nutrients. If you want to enjoy a drink on a festive outing or at the festive table, red wine is an ideal choice, as it has relatively few calories. At the same time, it also has benefits for your health: it is rich in antioxidants, such as resveratrol, and is good for the heart.

Really enjoy the Christmas meal

Research has shown that we get around 3,000 calories from our Christmas meal! This huge number of calories will not only add weight, but it is also very likely to cause indigestion, heartburn, and lethargy.

A "trick" to reduce calorie intake is to really enjoy the moments you spend at the family table. Eat slowly, feel every bite, give yourself the time you need to appreciate every taste and aroma. At the same time, live in the moment by talking with the loved ones around you and do not focus exclusively on the food.

Take a breath (or more!)

Whether you 're preparing for a Christmas getaway or organizing a family meal at home, you 're likely to feel the pressure of perfection and not forgetting anything important. Taking a short break to do a breathing exercise is a simple, yet highly effective way to de-stress and change your mood instantly!

How will you do it? Take a deep breath in through the nose for four seconds, hold your breath for four seconds, and exhale through the mouth for eight seconds.

Extra tips: Accompany your meal with a salad, make sure you sleep enough and well, choose a dessert with fruit instead of chocolate and ensure your hydration throughout the day.

Happy Holidays to everyone!
