Foods That Lower Blood Sugar Levels

Many people suffer from high blood sugar levels. However, this can be reduced with careful food selection.

1.- Psyllium Husk Powder

It is high in fiber, which absorbs a large amount of water, creating a protective layer on the intestinal mucosa.

Benefits for the body:

Balances blood sugar levels and helps better manage type 2 diabetes.

Helps lower cholesterol.

Positively affects digestion and helps with both diarrhea and constipation.

Psyllium is usually taken twice a day (5 g each) half an hour before a healthy meal and half an hour before dinner with plenty of water or added to your muesli or bread recipes.

After each intake of psyllium, drink a large glass of water; otherwise, constipation may occur.

2.- Oats

Oat muesli is a popular classic breakfast that can naturally lower blood sugar. Oat porridge can be made savory, with herbs and some vegetables, or sweet with berries, apple, nuts, and a few drops of lemon. Or add to minced meat to make a delicious burger for lunch or to broccoli or zucchini patties.

Oats have a positive effect on blood sugar and insulin levels. They are high in magnesium, provide many fibers that reduce blood sugar, as well as high cholesterol levels. At the same time, they contain very specific antioxidants and abundant B vitamins. Diabetics, in particular, often suffer from vitamin B deficiency.

Consuming foods rich in B vitamins, such as oats, greatly helps regulate blood sugar levels. Studies have shown that regular consumption of porridge can lower blood sugar levels.

3.- Onions Reduce Blood Sugar

Onions and garlic not only lower cholesterol levels but also blood sugar levels. They can be taken alongside blood sugar-lowering medications, as they also prevent low blood sugar that often occurs after taking medications, making the medication more effective.

Grapefruit is a wonderful fruit and is well known for promoting fat burning and is a natural and effective means of lowering blood sugar.

Cinnamon is used as a natural remedy for many purposes, such as lowering blood sugar and serving as a natural antioxidant for the body. Therefore, long-term consumption of 1 gram of cinnamon per day seems to be a good idea for diabetics.

7.- Tiger Nuts

Tiger nuts are the tubers that grow under the plant Cyperus esculentus.

They are a known substitute for nuts in people with allergies, help with weight loss, and regulate blood lipid levels, as well as blood sugar levels.

If you want to lower your blood sugar levels, you can add two tablespoons of tiger nut flakes to your muesli or soups.

When there is a blood sugar problem, fruits are often avoided. However, blueberries have special anti-diabetic action and help bring blood sugar levels back to normal.

11.- Turmeric Lowers Blood Sugar

Turmeric's main component is the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory compound called curcumin.

It has the ability to regulate blood insulin levels, improve existing insulin resistance, and reduce blood fat levels. Due to the antioxidant action of curcumin, oxidative stress, and thus sensitivity to inflammation, is reduced.

12.- Walnuts

Walnuts are also a top food against diabetes. They can help diabetics maintain stable blood sugar levels. They are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids with a high ratio of Omega-3 fatty acids, which in turn are known for their effects on lowering blood sugar and insulin. Walnuts also provide vitamin E and other antioxidant compounds that further strengthen the body and protect against diabetes. Daily dose: 4 fresh cracked walnuts a day are enough.
